Hello & welcome to the first ever big event for Trotting Through Life. Fan Music Extravganza . You see, the Brony and Pegasister community has quite the number of fan musicians and during this event, I'll be highlighting selections of some of my favorites. Starting off with AwkwardMarina. AwkwardMarina's style is usually that of show tunes or Broadway style songs. Now, I'll be taking a look at three of her songs.
No Place Like Ponyville
I love this number, it has that great Broadway feel to it. Now, the characters are good and I'll try not to compare to the show but it's tough not to compare. I love this song and I'm not certain but I think the inspiration for this may have come from Sweet and Elite. At least, the opening. It's a great song and talks about why Ponyville is so important to the characters. A very sweet and simple number.
Have You Met This Pony Yet?
Okay, if fans can't figure out what the inspiration for this song was? They need to take a closer listen to it. This number is just so much fun and really gets into the mind of The Changeling Queen while she's going around as Best Princess. It's weird because while I'd call this a villain song, it's not one in the normal sense as it doesn't sound evil. It's more like Cruellia De Ville in how the other characters are singing about Cadance and praising her. Now for my favorite song of hers.
Anthropology
This, THIS song is why I fell in love with Lyra Heartstrings and declared her best background pony. It is actually based on a fanfic of the same name in which we found that Lyra actually is a human. I like the song better then the fic. This song made me fall in love with Lyra because of her fandom/borderline obsession with humans. It reminds me very much of my fandom/borderline obsession with Disney. This is a fanon trait that was given to Miss Heartstrings as the fandom loves to give background ponies a personality. And it how came from this...
This song is easily AwkwardMarina's most popular and in my opinion her best number. How popular is it? Well, there's a storyboard for it.
And a fan version called Ponyology
AwkwardMarina has done three of my favorite songs from the fan community. I hope that you've enjoyed this. Join me next time as I take a look at the works of Joaftheloaf
