Party With Pinkie: Swarm of The Century

Hello & welcome back to Trotting Through Life and today, we continue our Party With Pinkie as we look at Swarm of The Century.  Now, I was hesitant at first about reviewing this episode but I realized that it made sense as it showed Pinkie can be a lot smarter than other ponies give her credit for.

Episode Title

Swarm of The Century

The title pretty much refers to the infestation of the parasprites.

The Plot

Now, admittedly the plot here is that there really isn't much of a plot.  The episode starts with Fluttershy finding a parasprite, while trying to get the town ready for a visit from Princess Celestia and she takes it to Twilight and Pinkie to show but Pinkie thinks it's ugly and we'll find out soon as we see them multiply and start to infest the town.

And all of the townspony think that they're cute until they start to as previously infest the town and the rest of the episode is the various ways of the Mane 6 trying to get rid of the Parasprites from wrangling them to Dash  using her weather patrol skills and Twilight casting a spell on the parasprites on them to stop eating the food.

And nothing seems to work and Ponyville is left in ruins. And Twilight's final plan is just to move Ponyville and they only have a minute to do it before the Princess arrives.  But just then, we see Pinkie leading the Parasprites out of town with instruments that she had been looking for throughout all episode. It's a very Pied Piper esque moment

And Celestia thinks that it's a parade and she says that she has to leave as Fillydelphia is experiencing an infestation. And Twilight gives The Princess, her friendship lesson and it was that, just because your friend may suggest something that seems out there, you should take the time to listen to them as they may know what they're talking about.  Sorry, but there really isn't much to talk about with this episode.  It's a fine episode but it's nothing too special.

Characters

Twilight Sparkle, Applejack, Rarity, Fluttershy, & Rainbow Dash voiced by Tara Strong,  Ashleigh Ball,& Andrea Libman

The episode seemed to want to show that The Mane Six could be stubborn and on repeat viewings, that does come across but on a first viewing, the audience is in the same boat as the rest of The Mane Six as we think that Pinkie is just being completely random but on repeat viewings, we know that Pinkie is in the right.

Pinkie Pie voiced by Andrea Libman

Like I said up top, Pinkie is in the right and we know that from the get go but as I said there, on a first viewing, it may not come across that way as Pinkie's randomness just seems well random but this episode does a good job to highlight that there is sometimes a point to Pinkie's randomness and she knows what she is doing.

Antagonists

Parasprites

The Parasprites really aren't characters as they are just pests and they start out as cute but we later see how gross, they can be. And that's all there really is to them.  There really isn't much else to them.

My Final Thoughts

This is an okay episode, there really isn't much to it. The plot is rather thin but the episode is still a lot of fun and it does have a good moral but in terms of episodes that we'll be looking at, this is the least deep but it's still a fun episode. Join me next time as we look at one of the more controversial episodes to feature Pinkie as we look at...

Feeling Pinkie Keen
